FFET Science Fest 2025

Have you got a science project to showcase? The FFET Science Fest is a fantastic opportunity for you to show off your work with judges, gain experience and win special prizes.

Science projects typically focus on experimentation and your process – perhaps you’re trying to answer a question. You’ll use your core STEM subjects like biology, chemistry, physics and maths.

Entries -  Teams of 3 children - EPC, BHA and HGPS can bring up to 5 teams.

Theme: Sustainability.

How to Enter: Ready to showcase your science skills? Talk to your Science Teacher at school to enter! All entries must be submitted to FFET by 20th June. The grand final will take place at the Theatre at EPC on 4th July 2025 - don’t miss your chance!


What you will need to provide to enter:

1.   Project overview (up to 150 words)– Write a few sentences to summarise your whole project (this needs to be a brief but clear summary of your project aims, how you planned to achieve your project aims, your key results and conclusions and how your work may impact the wider community)

2.   Project concept (up to 300 words) - Explain why you chose your project and how it might impact the wider world. Think about the following:

  • What is your aim?

  • What are you hoping to find out?

  • What problem are you looking to resolve?

  • Why did you choose the project?

  • What experiments will you use?

  • Did anyone inspire you?

  • What impact might your project have on the wider world?

3.   Project process (up to 400 words) – How did you carry out your project? Think about the following questions:

  • Did you do any background research?

  • What ideas or approaches did you consider achieving your aim? Were there any barriers that stopped you using the most suitable approach?

  • What difficulties did you face during the project process and how did you get around these?

4.   Project outcomes (up to 400 words) – Explain your results and how your results support or challenge your project aims, and how your findings may impact the wider community. Think about the following questions:

  • What were your results? What did you find out?

  • Does your project outcome solve the problem you set out to tackle? Did you discover anything new?

  • What conclusions can you make based on your results?

  • What impact could your results have on the wider world?

5.   Next steps and reflections (up to 350 words) – Explain the skills you feel you have developed and the learning you have gained. Reflect on anything you might do differently if you were to do another project.


The finalheld in the theatre at EPC on 4th July 2025.

Teams would have two display boards and a table to showcase their project to the judges. They should be prepared to explain each aspect and demonstrate if appropriate.

Awards:

  • An overall winner

  • A social justice award to the project that most promotes the development of social justice

  • An award for the most creative project

  • An award for the best overall presentation, (written and oral)

  • An award for a project that showcases FFET values.
