15th November saw the 2025 Educate Awards host a spectacular evening, celebrating outstanding achievements in education and community impact.
In collaboration with the Educate Awards — the largest education awards in the North West — the Frank Field Education Trust (FFET) commemorated its founder, the Rt. Hon. Lord Frank Field, who served as Member of Parliament for Birkenhead for over 40 years, by sponsoring an award in his honour.
The newly established ‘Lord Frank Field Community Partnership Award’ recognises schools, academies, and colleges that have built exceptional partnerships within their local and wider communities across the North West. The schools short-listed for the inaugural award were Accrington St Christopher’s CE High School, Burnley High School, Maghull High School, and Tottington High School, with Burnley High School winning the award.
John Shannon, Director of Education at FFET, said: “It was an amazing experience to see the incredible work that colleagues across the North West do to make a difference to the children and communities they serve.”
Tom Quinn, CEO of FFET, added: “Renaming the Educate Award in Lord Field’s honour is a fitting tribute to his lifelong dedication to social justice and community initiatives. Frank’s commitment to tackling poverty and improving education has transformed countless lives.”
Kim O’Brien, founder of the Educate Awards, commented: “Lord Frank Field’s extraordinary dedication to education and social justice has had a profound impact on generations of young people. By renaming this award in his honour, we continue his legacy of strengthening communities and empowering schools to make lasting change. His commitment to creating opportunities for all aligns perfectly with the values we celebrate through the Educate Awards, and we look forward to seeing how schools entering this award are driving positive change in their own communities.”
