The Frank Field Education Trust proudly held its 2025 Art Challenge & Exhibition at Chester Town Hall this November, showcasing the incredible creativity and talent of young artists across the Trust.
This year’s theme was “Compassion”, encouraging participants to explore and express this important value through their artwork. Students were invited to submit entries across a variety of mediums, including photography, drawing, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media.
Submissions were judged on creativity, encouraging students to think outside the box and bring fresh ideas to life; innovation, exploring unique and original ways to represent the chosen value; use of materials, demonstrating skill and imagination in their chosen medium; and visual communication, ensuring the artwork effectively conveyed the meaning and message behind the theme of compassion.
The entries were judged by artist Richard T. Walker from San Francisco, who commented on the exceptionally high standard of work, praising the students for their imagination, originality, and ability to convey such a meaningful theme through art. He highlighted how the pieces demonstrated not only technical skill but also empathy and thoughtfulness, capturing the essence of compassion in powerful and inspiring ways.
Awards were presented across several categories, including Overall Winner, Highly Commended, Best Technical Ability, Best Digital Art, and Primary School Winner, recognising outstanding achievement and creativity in each area. Pupils attending the exhibition received a printed anthology of the entries, alongside prizes, certificates, and trophies, celebrating their participation and success.
The grand final at Chester Town Hall highlighted the talent, dedication, and imagination of students, reinforcing the Trust’s commitment to fostering creativity and values-based learning in schools.
