FFET's Young Geographer of the Year Grand Final at Chester Town Hall

The Grand Final of Frank Field’s Young Geographer of the Year competition took place on 15th October at the impressive Chester Town Hall, as part of our Be More Co-Curriculum.

Pupils from Handforth Grange Primary School, Birches Head Academy, and Ellesmere Port C of E College came together to showcase their creativity and geographical understanding.

This year’s challenge invited pupils to design an A3 poster or physical model exploring their local area and what it means to them. The standard of entries was exceptional, making the judges’ task of selecting winners incredibly difficult!

Congratulations to all our finalists, and a special well done to our winners, who impressed the judges with their originality, insight, and presentation skills.

Each pupil’s work was carefully assessed for creativity, presentation, interpretation of the theme, depth of geographical knowledge, and use of accurate terminology. Judges also evaluated how clearly and confidently pupils communicated their ideas during their presentations.

The event was a true celebration of geography - highlighting how our pupils see, understand, and value the places local to them.

“It was inspiring to see pupils speak so passionately about their local areas. The level of creativity and geographical thinking was outstanding,” said one of the judges.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, supported, and organised this year’s competition - a wonderful example of our Trust’s commitment to inspiring pupils to Be More.
